The Cramps Empty
PostSubject: The Cramps   The Cramps Icon_minitimeWed Aug 25, 2010 12:04 pm

I recently re-kindled my interest in rockabilly/psychobilly music and tied for the top of the the list with the Rev. Horton Heat are The Cramps. I had a comp tape years and years ago that has long since gone bye-bye. I don't remember what songs were on there. The only cd I own by them is Flame Job, which I love. Spun it 4 or 5 times this morning. And Poison Ivy is smoking hot. RIP Lux.

While I don't have the funds to purchase up their entire discography, I'd like to beef up my collection a bit. Any discs that are "essential" or ones that I should avoid? I'm looking at mostly studio output, nothing live. Any Cramps recommendations are welcome.

And please, don't tell me "If you like The Cramps, you should check these guys out". I can't afford it!! The Cramps Icon_razz

'A Date with Elvis' and ' Smell of Female' are essential Cramps albums.

That's their debut, right? I've got my eye on that one.

Smell of Female is live, no? I'd probably skip that one for the time being. I'm not a big "live album" kinda guy and would rather stick to studio stuff for now. I like the track list for Date with Elvis. Who wouldn't like a song titled 'The Hot Pearl Snatch'? The Cramps Icon_biggrin

I'm probably in the minority amongst fans of The Cramps but I love Bad Music For Bad People and Stay Sick. Really you can't go wrong with any of their albums.
