I think it is a cruel sport but then maybe because I am an American and did not grow up on the sport, personally I have hard time feeling sorry for the matador since bull is only defending himself.

That is a cruel, cruel "sport". Great to see the bull get his licks in;by the time the matador steps into the ring,the bull is already in a weakened state .And everytime I see a bullfight picture,story, etc. I think of that great old Bugs Bunny cartoon.
