| YES! Excellent band/album!! If you dig Crimson Glory, Judas Priest and old Fates Warning you should dig Zion's Abyss. I got a copy of the TALES album about a year ago from a message board buddy who was a friend of the band back in the late 80s/early 90s... when it was first released in 1991 it was cassette-only so he ripped me the MP3s from his original tape. When I found out Steel Legacy were reissuing it on CD I jumped on it!! I hope you dig it bro! Sadly, TALES was the one and only release by Zion's Abyss because their guitar player was apparently killed in an auto accident shortly after the album came out and the band broke up. | |

| This sounds right up my alley. Any samples anywhere? How would you compare it to the Cross Metal from Above release in quality? The Cross samples sounded a bit too "Demoey" for me. | |

| The Zion's Abyss album is much better sound quality than the Cross CD(which was released by the same label). The Cross material was simply an old demo tape pressed to CD. Zion's Abyss was an actual album release (it was a self released by the band but the sound quality was still better than "demo quality" if you know what I mean). | |

| Cross were awesome traditional heavy metal. It's a shame their stuff was never properly recorded. They didn't really improve it much with the CD/vinyl reissue either, although it's still cool to have.
Zion's Abyss sounds interesting. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

I also think that this is a Christian band, or they have Christian influences.
I so wanted to like Cross, but I just couldnt dig the quality of the tracks. I've almost ordered it a few times for the artwork alone!

Nope, Z.A. was not a Christian band. This was the first time I've heard that, so I asked my friend who knew the band, and he sez "nope, they weren't." I agree with you about the Cross release... the artwork is phenomenal! Too bad the actual tracks aren't of better quality. Still a cool listen though. Takes me back to the old demo-tape trading days...
