arranging your cds

Put my rack together this morning. Then I had to remove all but the last row of my 1500 CD rack so I could slide it over to make room for the new one. Next was re-filing the 1300 or so CDs I had to remove. Now all the CDs are back in the racks so the next step is to start filing the ones I have laying around in piles throughout the house. This is the part that sucks because it causes a "domino effect" as I have to make room for more CDs.

Just spent the last 2 hours filing the piles of CDs. Now all but about 15 in my car are in The Vault.

All told today I spent about 5 hours assembling the rack and then filing CDs.

Also, you say you have CDs that you keep in your car. Isn't that bad for them? Being in the hot sun all day?

Alphabetized. At least most of them are.

I still haven't tackled my big 're-arrangement' project yet.

Probably tomorrow. At least I hope so.

Hey, where'd you pick up that new rack from? I like that one. That would actually hold my entire 945 cd collection too.

I got it from DeepDiscount.com. It only holds 500 though so it wouldn't hold your entire collection.

I liked that it matched the 1500 CD rack; obviously the same manufacturer.

BTW, that stuffed buffalo in the last rack picture represents the first thing I ever won at an amusement park game stand (after running one every summer as a teenager). That damn thing is about 35 years old!

I just do alphabetical by artist only.

well today after moving I am going to re-assemble all the racks and organize them alphabetically. It will be the first time arranged this way to its time to use those skills I learned in first grade!!!

Have fun! I have to help a friend out doing that as well. Thankfully his collection isn't that big.

thankfully mine isnt either - its only 1600. I couldnt imagine doing this with tohos haul of 6000+...

HAHAHAHA! I was saying that this morning when I was putting away a few cds I've been letting just sit around the last couple of weeks.

I have mine all in order but the bad thing I have 500 sitting around un organized. At work we are doing some maple wood. So we will have extra and I get all that so I will make a 1000 cd rack to hold the remaining cds I have!

I make all my own racks and they are screwed on the walls!

I go in genre (if a band/artists' music is mostly a specific genre, even though individual albums might differ, that's where all their releases go), then alphabetical for bands, then chronological for albums. Thankfully the collection is only around a thousand, so it's not too time consuming to juggle. I need to show my wife toho's collection to give her some perpsective.... .
