Yet, Another Pro-Wrestler Is Dead: Chris Kanyon (Mortis)

Former WCW and WWE star Kanyon was found dead of an aparent overdose (possible suicide). He was only 40 years old. Another preventable death in pro-wrestling that is sure to continue the age old question: Does pro-wrestling make people drug addicts or does it just attract those kind of people.

Wow, the life expectancy of pro wrestlers sure isn't very long is it?

I liked his Mortis character back in the WCW days.

Me too! Once he was unmasked he lost most of his appeal. He was very innovated in the ring though and was a good talker but I prefered him before just the same.

I was doing some reading on this, Apparently some sources are saying it was a suicide as there was a note found by an empty pill bottle, I didn't know he was ga-hey either, I liked Kanyon in WCW especially when he'd team with Raven and later DDP to form the "Jersey Triad"

Another source is saying it was an Overdose

To do what they do causes one to have to turn to painkillers at times. If you're prone to addiction it will be a nightmare. RIP.

I think what it was, was there were 2 guys who were Mortis and the original died. I could be wrong as usual. I remember it being some guy that wore a skull mask.

Maybe you were thinking of Bam Bam Bigelow he died a few years ago was a part of that whole Jersey Triad gimmick in WCW

nope wasn't him. I remember BAM BAM cause I remember seeing one of his last matches when at one of the ECW Pay Per Views. The one where him and Taz went through the ring. I remember being there for that. That was a great show.

He was really one of my favorite wrestlers ever and super underrated. Mortis is my favorite gimmick of all time. He had a history of depression and I think might have attempted suicide once before. He was one of my "friends" on Myspace as well.

Chris Canyon was the only performer to wrestle as Mortis.

You're probably thinking of the KISS Demon as there was two wrestlers who performed that gimmick, Bryan Adams first then Dale Torborg. Bryan Adams died of sleep apnea two or three years back.
