The only Firewind thread here is in RIP, and I posted there - and got no replies ... so it's time for a new Firewind thread!!!
Any fans of Ozzy's new guitarist's other main band?
Love me some Firewind!!!

Yes. Good band. I like 'Between Heaven And Hell' and 'Allegiance' the most. One of the bands within power metal that brings an AOR slant that I really enjoy, Vanishing Point is another example. 'The Premonition' felt on cruise control for half of it, but that still has some very good songs as well, despite one of my favorites unashamedly ripping off 'Message in a Bottle' (the song being 'My Loneliness'). It's interesting that a band with little in common with trends in heavy music, whether it be metalcore or DragonForce or whatever, instead going for almost exclusively 80's influences, has gotten so much attention in the U.S...but then I figured out it was because of teh shrezorz guitar soloz. Which is also confusing because, yes, very good solos, but in Gus G. I honestly don't hear the huge rift that makes him miles above all kinds of other players. This is coming from a musician and major fan of the style. But in any case, I like. I like about all the Firewind vocalists the same, but I do not like the Red Circuit project that Chity is in..pretty soulless sounding. Wish he would do something else, excellent singer.

Also, it's metal to have your name be comprised of two elements. For the curious, yes there is also an Icewind, but they have some potential they need to meet yet.

I like them ok. I just never seem to pick up any of their CDs.
I think their name is ridiculous. Sounds like a fart to me. Same with Silent Force.

I like their cover of the Scorpions Picture Life, but I haven't heard much else. They do have a great sound though.

I like Firewind a lot but I feel the band is going in the wrong direction. Still amazing but give me Forged by Fire w/ Chity on vocals over all the other Firewind lineups.

I like all the Firewind albums!!! I still need to fill in the remainder of my collection though.
As far as band name goes ... Firewind is a great band name! Like Orion said - using elements is always a metal thing to do.
Silent Force is a great band name too.
These band names conjur up thoughts of magic / knights, etc to me. They are perfect fit for power metal.
Anyway ... Firewind just seems to get better and better.
Their new album, "The Premonition" is fantastic!!
Check the song I posted if you don't believe me!!!
If you like excellent power metal - Firewind should be right up your alley!
If you don't ... then pass on Firewind.

Does anyone know if Chity's band Civilization One is any good?

I have it and didn't think much of it.
But then again, these days there is very little power/prog metal that I DO like. My favorite Chitty project is still the Avalon album.
I think if you like Chitty's vocals and his past bands/projects you'd enjoy Civilization One. I'm just burned out on that style of music.

I think you'd dig it Grimm.
Like I said, I'm just completely fried on that style of music these days.

I like this band a lot and everything they've done.

They're pretty good. To me they're less melodic and more gritty than Firewind.

The last two Firewind discs are their best for me. I like Apollo and what he has brought to the table for them. They seemed to click on all cylinders with him.

The latest Red Circuit is good, although a bit bland. The first album from them however is amazingly great melodic progressive metal with some great use of violin...an instrument far too underused in metal. I love Chity in RC as well as Avalon. The Civilization One disc wasn't too bad either...they just announced no more.
