| The latest installment of heavy as hell renditions of classic rock and metal songs. Love the guitar tone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmKRMt4NeJs&feature=related Six Feet Under's Chris Barnes Breaks Down 'Graveyard Classics 3''A Dangerous Meeting' ( Mercyful Fate), 'Metal on Metal' ( Anvil), 'The Frayed Ends of Sanity' ( Metallica), 'At Dawn They Sleep' ( Slayer), 'Not Fragile' ( BTO), 'On Fire' ( Van Halen), 'Pounding Metal' ( Exciter), 'Destroyer' ( Twisted Sister), 'Psychotherapy' (the Ramones) and 'Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck' ( Prong) is the track list for Six Feet Under's third edition of covers, dubbed 'Graveyard Classics 3,' out Jan. 19 via longtime label Metal Blade Records. We asked dreadlocked, guttural growler Chris Barnes to break down the level of ease and difficulty of translating these songs into Six Feet Under'ese. Favorite? "It's not politically correct to have a favorite. I like them all. All except one or two I picked myself. They all have different vibes from separate and interesting types of bands. Each song has been done by a cool band and they stuck out to me. They have certain feeling. I like the Slayer, the Fate, the Metallica ... they are all cool." Which song turned out better than expected? "The BTO song was surprising. [Guitarist] Steve [Swanson] laid down a killer, bluesy lead, encompassing the whole song. It had a cool tone." Most surprisingly easy song to cover? "What we thought was gonna be the hardest but that surprisingly came together quickly was the Van Halen song. I know Steve is an awesome guitarist, but he is not noted for being a good guitarist, but I thought it would be hard to pull off, being a crazy Halen song and well, it's Eddie Van Halen. But that one just really was such a complex song, and those guys nailed it" Hardest to cover? "The Metallica song. Certain parts in the original mix, in the lead section and in the rhythm section ... it was hard to figure out some of those parts, but the guys researched the songs and concentrated on playing the songs right and their parts right. They were perfectly played. We even approached Hank from Mercyful Fate for some tabs on 'A Dangerous Meeting,' too. We worked hard to pay tribute to killer songs." | |

| "On Fire" by Van Halen seems to be getting more attention lately... with SFU and Stryper both choosing it for their covers records. | |

| 3 Inches Of Blood also did a cover of 'Not Fragile' as a bonus track on "Here Waits Thy Doom" | |

| Ugh. The first two might be the worst covers albums I've ever heard. How anyone can enjoy those songs is beyond me. But I guess some people dig them. | |

| I'm no fan of these guys, but isn't a 3rd album of covers a bit much? Hasn't the novelty worn off yet? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Eh, a 3rd one is a bit overbearing, but at least it's a mix of songs again. GC II was the one I found REALLY pointless, Back In Black didn't need to be covered in it's entirety. | |

| Finally scored a copy of this. Totally digging it. As with the first one, the thrash songs seem to fit the band better than the more classic rock style songs. Also Twisted Sister slow, grinding classic "Destroyer" also works well. I was surprised by how well they pulled off the Prong and Ramones songs. I figured they would annihilate those songs, and indeed they did. Anyone else pick this up? _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I heard the first "Graveyard Classics" and that was more than enough for me, thanx. Though I did get about five bucks' worth of credit for it when I traded it in at my used CD store cuz it was still a fairly new release at the time. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

love this one. the only song that i knew would fail is A Dangerous Meeting. Mercyful Fate should never be covered by this death metal band. the rest the pull off extremely well & make it their own. Hail Of Bullets cover of Destroyer is still better that SFU's though. _________________ | |
