Chapter three from the music scene in my little corner of the world. Moving away from metal this time, but still a strong link to a lot of the other bands from here, through drummer Per Bertrand (Manitou, Deafmazjiin, Gartnerlosjen)
This is from their Myspace and gives you an impression of what they sound like:
The Violent Years dwell in deepest southern Norway amidst the sea, woods and bible belt. Their songs are made of an anxious bitter sweet unrequited Love inspired by a contrasting backdrop of natural beauty and the highest rate of depression in the country. Their sounds lean towards American Folk and British Pop.
Their style is kind of mellow Folk, Indie, Rock and some compare them to 16 Horsepower and Nick Cave. Here`s a link to their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/theviolentyears
And here`s a couple of Youtube clips, both filmed in and around Mandal:

Olaf, wow - that is some great music! I love it!
This is right up my alley!
Very unusual, earthy, and deep.
Are their albums readily available?

Yes MB! Glad you like them . I`m guessing Shiney and maybe Toho will dig them too. Their first album, a self titled EP is available on Cdbaby. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/violentyears They have a full length album coming out this spring.

I just added that EP to the top of my list! I'll have it soon! Thanks again for the turn-on! I could see this band becoming a total favorite of mine.
