Some really good recommendations so far but I also wanted to add a band to the list that I'm sure you have not yet heard Allen.

Warrant - the thrash metal Warrant that is from Germany. They didn't have many releases only 2 (an EP and a full length) which you can now find (although with a degree of persistence) coupled together into one release.

I didn't really know what to expect when I heard these guys but if you like late 80s American thrash metal Warrant are up your alley. They don't sound like either Kreator, Sodom or Destruction rather their sound is IMO closer to bands like Dark Angel, Death Angel, Vio-Lence... those type of American thrash bands.
