I really love their brand of power metal. They mix it up with a nice twist of traditional metal.
Let's discuss this underrated band from Denmark!

I've heard a lot of good things about this band. Are they more of a Euro or US power metal band?

More Euro then American. I find them to be quite second rate. I used to own 2 of their albums, and I've seen them live. Not underrated at all, imo.

Only heard 'Blade of Triumph' but I was.....unmoved.

I owned Iron Fire's On The Edge at one point. I thought it was decent enough, but nothing that rocked my socks off. I remember finding it in the used bins at FYE. I thought the lead singer sounded like Vince Neil. I don't know if I still own it or not though. I remember putting it in the trade/sell pile, but I don't know if it ever went anywhere.

Looks like I'm in the minority with this band. That's okay with me. It just proves how underrated they really are!
For whatever reason this band really clicks with me. Then again, I'm a bit of a power metal freak.
Here's a sample for those interested:

Me too. I just sort of put them in the same 'decent enough' category as say Heavenly. But then I usually have a hard time finding a lot of common likes and etc with other metal fans.

I'm a power metal freak but Iron Fire just doesn't hit with me. Is ok, we like what we like.

Get their new one, "To the Grave", it's their best IMO!

I've never cared that much for Iron Fire. I kind of felt like they were second fiddle to lesser Hammerfall. I think they also have kind of an uneven discography. They'll do a quality album, then follow it up with something uninspired. For that reason, I don't own any IF stuff - just didn't want to invest in a band that I wasn't going to listen to much.

I like them about equal with Hammerfall. Both bands are of the same caliber IMO.
Both are top notch power metal!

I really liked the debut album 'Thunderstorm' - although it's not the most unique sounding power metal album it has a very heroic (at times over the top) vibe to it. Under any other circumstances an album like Thunderstorm would sound very much like power metal by numbers and in a way it is but the level of enthusiasm with which these guys play make the album stand out from other similar power metal releases. Perhaps that's why the name stuck all these years and why we are still talking about Iron Fire.
I am somewhat familiar with their latest release and I must say it's a good one too. It's been a while since i listened to their new album but from memory they went for a '3 inches in blood'-type arrangement throwing in some guttural/harsher vocal tones here and there. I may have to revisit this album soon because I don't remember which songs I liked and not. In saying that, this album didn't grab me as much as Thunderstorm when I heard it at least.

I agree with what you said about 'the level of enthusiasm with which this band plays'. I think that's what really sets them apart. They might not be breaking any new ground with their sound, but they play with so much passion - that it makes them stick out.
They are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. Their new one RULES!!! It's my favorite from the two that I have so far.

I'd recommend Thunderstorm easily their best release to date - despite being their first album.

I'd recommend their new one, "To the Grave". However, I've not yet heard "Thunderstorm". Sounds like I need to pick that one up next!
