| Since we share a lot of members, and since I administrate both boards, I thought I would let any and all of you guys get in on this also! Time for the ALMOST annual CMR Top 100 list! I say almost annual because, as many know, I did NOT get the list posted last year. There are multiple reasons, none of which is important now. However, I am out to right that wrong and PROMISE this year's list will be up as soon as the votes are tallied! So...get to it gang! What I need you to do is rate your Top 25 records of the year (less is fine, but nothing past 25 will be scored). I will then compile ALL lists I receive, score it, and then rank the Top 100 releases of the year.
There are a few rules...
1. If you don't number your list, I am going to assume your list is in 1-25 order and will score them accordingly. 2. No live records or greatest hits packages, please. 3. EP's are fine...no problems at all. 4. Split discs count, but will be counted as a single release...I won't split points for each band. 5. Don't tell me two discs tied...make a decision! LOL! 6. All CD's must have been released this calendar year. To that end, if it was released in Europe and you have it in hand now, that's fine. If it is shipped early for Christmas (such as the new Liberty N Justice record, for example), again, that's fine. 7. I am REALLY torn about re-recordings, but I will count them. And no, this is not a "Saint" rule because of Crime Scene Earth 2.0. The new Arch Enemy disc is all re-recordings, for example, and there are others. 8. All lists MUST be in no later than January 15. My plan is to have the official CMR list posted no later than Jan. 31.
Please, PLEASE, only post your list once, either here or in one of the sections of the CMR. You can also PM or email me the list if you choose, and I usually get 15-20 such lists every year for some reason. (Some come from "lurkers" who just don't post much).
So, there you go...have at it...and have fun!
My list will be up soon, but feel free to start now if you know there is nothing coming out in these last two weeks that will rattle your world.

| There are still '09 releases I plan on getting before Jan. 15, so I'll get back to this thread around Jan. 10th or so. | |

Same here, I'm anticipating the new Mortification album and I'm contemplating ordering the new U.D.O. album and (since I find myself becoming a fan) the new Nile album.

The Epica one is pretty dang good. There are actually quite a good number of guitar solos (the change in lead guitarists did them good) which have always been few and far between. I know that doesn't mean much to some people but for me guitar solos make a big difference (especially live, Epica didn't impress me much when I saw them a while back-but I do enjoy their albums).

I just ordered the new Epica this morning. Can't wait to hear it! And you're right - more guitar solos should sound great with their already excellent music!!!
