GG Allin

Even crazier than the Mentors.

Me n Auntie were discussing Mr Allin on the way back from the Apostle Islands this morning. Although both of us agree that his lifestyle was outside of our tastes, I have major respect for the guy simply because he lived "more free" than anyone you'll ever meet. The guy was not restricted by society's rules and regulations and basically did not care about what anyone thought or how anyone else lived their own lives. Unfortunately, physical addiction does have rules and that is how he went out. Regardless, I wish I had 5 minutes of the freedom he had every day.

The Mentors, on the other hand, were just pigs. El Duce, anyways. By reading the liners on the re-issues, I don't think Sicky actually believed most of the crap they were preaching, himself. And I tend to believe that most of the logical theories have 'Duce taking out Cobain and that is fairly lame, as well.

GG was a god man, and I have to agree with sax about the mentors despite how much I like them that they were just straight scum. The whole bit about Duce killing cobain if he thought love was serious...eh who can say man, the guy passed an f'n lie detector test.

El Duce named his music "rape rock" which GG Allin later used also. Some Mentors lyrics are funny in a juvenile way but overall it's nasty. Gwar is another funny but gross band.

I'm more familiar with his antics than I am his music, neither of which was my cuppa joe. More power to ya if you liked him. Get one of these for the mantle...

Never was a fan of his antics or music. Like MG said if you like 'em, more power to ya.

I'd take GWAR or the Mentors over G.G. any day.

I don't like him but i remember seing him on the talkshow circuit in the early 90's. I just know he was considered a freakshow.

if "living free" means drugging & drinking yourself into a stupor & playing in feces, then i'm sure there's a lot of freedom going around. check the pornography scene.

Don't know a thing about The Mentors...but I always thought Allin was a moron.

I'm not really a fan but the Hated documentary is a great documentary whether you liked GG or not.

I'm not being self-righteous...I've watched some of the dudes bootleg videos people I knew had and basing my opinion of him on those videos...IMO, the dude was a drooling imbecile...
