| Not sure if there's any fishermen here, but I post on a fishing forum geared toward us in New England, and everyone posts fishing reports. This is a cut and paste, so it may be too detailed. Either way, those videos below are really cool (copy and paste the links, that funky symbol is messing up the code)! And if no one cares, I won't post any more! Haha. (No worries, of course.) The old man called me last night, wanted to head to some new ponds someone told him about. Apparently this place used to be private property, but the state bought it and now it's open to the public. It's an old, unused cranberry bog—big! There's two decent-sized ponds and two smaller ponds, intersecting bog "rivers," and apparently there's a bigger river off in the woods. It's about a mile trek to the first big pond, so we didn't bring the canoe (my father has neropathy, so his legs are weak). Anyway, I liked what I saw. Healthy water, a bit on the dark side, structure, and depth. I caught a few pickerel and some small bass, nothing of real size. We were just slingin' senkos and shallow-running cranks. I think if we had something that went a bit deeper we'd have picked up some bigger fish. We fished the second pond just for a little while, and only in one spot. This one had a lot of structure toward the back. I'm not sure how much water is around all that (too far to see), but I can't wait to get a boat out there and find out. Anyway, here are a few pictures: Lunker! Anyway, I got some cool videos of some ospreys. The nest is huge, sitting up on top of an electrical pole. Talk about a dangerous neighborhood! They weren't too pleased by our presence; as soon as we started getting near it one of them up on the edge of the nest, chirping and flapping its wings. It took off and circled us once we got right next to it. One our way back, the second one was there. Glad I didn't get any talons in the eye. The third clip shows one of them go for something in the water. It's pretty cool. Pardon the Darth Vader breathing. https://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/Kenwood75/Fishing/?action=view¤t=6-7-2007Osprey01.flv https://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/Kenwood75/Fishing/?action=view¤t=6-7-2007Osprey02.flv ttp://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/Kenwood75/Fishing/?action=view¤t=6-7-2007Osprey03.flv |

Catch and release. I can't kill animals. Stab them in the lip—no problem! |

I generally just bass fish. Ocassionally I'll do some trout fishing if my father wants, but 99% of the time it's bass fishing. I don't like salt water fishing because there's no challenge. Cast. Wait. Boring. Bass fishing is hard, unless you use live bait (shiners and such). Using artificial baits, though, is not easy. I've been fishing since I was a kid, and I was a good fisherman. But when I moved to Arkansas I had a hell of a time catching bass. I didn't get it. That's when I started doing a little research; that's when I learned that water temperature, cloud cover, the sun, the moon, water current, water clarity—you name it!—all came into play when fishing. It's really crazy. Most people think it's easy, but it's not. Once I was able to understand patterns and such, I started fishing bass tournaments (about 5 years ago). I love it. |

| That's cool. I don't fish much anymore, but when I did I fished at the lake where my family camps. The only fish there are Walleyes and Northern and the occasional Sun Fish. My mom and grandparents who fish literally all summer up there will catch so many Walleye that we HAVE to have a fish fry at the end of each summer, and I don't really even like fish that much. | |

Haha. I know people like that. I've never had walleye, though. |

| wats a walleye? in england you usualy end up with cathchng roach and perch in slow rivers with a rare bream and of course pike if you go after them. in fast rivers you will get the dace, chub and barbel. and in lakes you will mainly get carp (carp fishing is popular in europe) and rudd although they are rare. my fishing nickname is "Roachford" as i went on holiday once and all i caught for two weeks was roach and nothing else i have caught some monster perch before once managed to hook a 4lb one that lives under a bridge and is quite an infamous fish. we also have a legend that there is a monster pike in the drain (its all fenland round where i live) that bit a dogs head off | |

| A walleye is a freshwater fish native to most of Canada and to the northern United States. It is a close relative of the European pike-perch. So very similar to what you fish for. I love Giant Fish Legends. Hilarious | |

Sadly just a fun tournament. No money involved. And even though I won, that was my one and only fish caught. I checked my watch after the photo was taken and it was 12:18pm. The tourney started at 7am and ended at 1pm. So it was a lot of sight-seeing up until that point! Haha. I took this photo, too. Only ducks, but still pretty cool. I drifted right up next to them. They never moved until I finally made some noise to move away. You know you're not doing good fishing when you're taking pictures of ducks! |
