- "Welcome to the latest and greatest news from
Rowe Productions for this month of October. Our Mortification "the evil addiction destroyingmachine" Album has just received a very positive review in The Mighty US Rock Magazine HM. Both writer Jamie Lee Rake and Editor Doug Van Pelt gave "the evil addiction destroying machine" 4 out of 5. Following is the exact review in the latest issue of HM by Jamie Lee Rake:
Mortification The Evil Addiction Destroying Machine It's the album with the kitsch-iest cover in this veteran extreme metal trio's nigh 20-year tenure, but tackles a pretty broad artistic and textual swath. At its heart, the band's original thrash inclinations take precedence, though there's room for touches of doom, death, prog, power and groove variations. And with one of the more comprehensible vocal styles in their milieu (i.e. it's pleasant to hear a band like Mortification that doesn't require keeping one's eyes peeled to a lyric sheet to understand the words), songwriting bassist and Mort's leader Steve Rowe sounds like he's largely solidifying themes he has tackled in the past but he has it in him to surprise, too. Though he may strain metaphor on "Pilots Hanging From Shoulder Dust" and "Elastisized Outrage," Rowe bears some resemblance to Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister in the latter. And he comes at least a smidgen closer to his far less guttural speaking voice in his tribute to some of his spiritual and musical mentors on "Resurrections Band (A Tribute To Rez)." Though the more meticulous Bible references in previous albums' notes are missed, and this is more a reassessing of ground covered than breaking new terrain, there's little disputing the sincerity and quality Mort continue to maintain here.
In other October news, Wonrowe Vision continues in regular rehearsal, now onto our 8th song. With just 2 more to be finalized in writing and arranging, we are getting close to A Debut Album's worth of material. I am not sure at this stage when and where the Album will be Recorded, only that it will be next year and hopefully in the first half. I would like to release The Debut Wonrowe Vision Album before we start gigging. But we may have some Live opportunities next April. So stay tuned for news right here and also for Mortification 20th Anniversary shows later next year.
The Mortification 20th Anniversary Double CD release "Twenty Years In The Underground" will be put through the final Mastering stage this month. Keep your eyes right here because next month I will reveal The "Twenty Years In The Underground" Album cover and full Track Listing.
Thank You once again to all those who support this Mission. If you wish to support True Jesus Metal and Rock you can do so via PayPal: info@roweproductions.com
Blessings,
Steve Rowe." _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Who cares about what HM says. That mag sucks. Sorry to sound so negative, but honestly - a review in that magazine means nothing but a hill of beans to me. Now if they got a killer review in Terrorizer or even Outburn, that would be cool. | |

| By the way, I mean no offense to Mortification - as I actually like them. I'm glad their new album is doing well. I just can't stand HM - that's all. | |

| I have to agree that HM is no authority in metal reviews anymore and it' even harder to track down a copy unless you go to a Christian book store or subscribe. I used to like them in their heyday (89-93) when they were all about metal. Now if i look through a copy it's littered with wimp rock or boring alternative bands. | |

I used to like them too, and even re-subscribed to their new 'zine, Heaven's Metal. It sucketh. I finally let my subscription end after just being disgusted at issue after issue. Christian metal has gone so far downhill from where it once was. | |

| I can't get over how cheesy Wonrowe Vision sounds... But I guess it'll be good stuff. | |

| I haven't read HM in years but it does reach an audience I cannot reach on my own, so I am thankful for it and everything Doug Van Pelt does.
As for the relaunched Heavens Metal, it's not bad. I need to renew my subscription to it. However, back in the 90's I used to devour each and every issue of Heaven's Metal. Would read it from front to back cover.
Wonrowe Vision is an odd name. I don't understand what the title is all about, but it's Steve's vision, so more power to him.
I looke forward to anything Steve puts out. I have nothing but respect for him. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| in agreement with Scott.as much as you all disagree;doug van pelt has done really great things;epecially with his myspace and weekly HM updates..i am very grateful to him as well.he had mailed me some postcards for magazine subscriptions which i gladly handed out for him. also, about steve rowe he was so instrumental in bringing the christian metal music to the forefront..i have even more renewed respect for him since his diagnosis.i too suffer from an incurable condition.i understand full well what it is like wakin everyday in constant pain.his christianity and faith in god will always be an inspiration to me.i have nothing but, enormous respect for him also.i am pleased to be a part of the connection between the musican i have listened to for years and never realised it was Mortification and the best metal thrash band Ultimatum..indeed this metal family is such a small one...note to scott,is it possible that you can copy and paste this update in our band forum since i know that members would enjoy reading it as we all did on f/s..just asking? | |
