I liked them. Straight forward heavy metal. We called it power metal back in the day, but compared to what is called power metal today, Zaxas are much closer to traditional heavy metal. I wouldn't go so far as to say their album is one of my all times favorites, but I do enjoy it from time to time. The songs are catchy, the guitars are crunchy and the guitar solos work well. Can't ask for more than that.

(On a side note, just found a typo in that short write-up on my site. Grrrr...)

They kind of split the difference between classic Queensryche/Fates and a Dio sound IMO. I guess that could be considered generic, but subpar? I didn't think so. I think there biggest problem was that they picked a bad year (1995) to use that formula.
