| "Morgan Fleaman" aka "Fleaman" needs a new home.
I have to move and cannot take him with me. He's a 5 or 6 year old, neutered, fully trained, docile house dog. He has very short hair and doesn't shed. He's a BIG boy. So, if you're looking for a nice sized dog - Fleaman is for you. I got him a few years ago from the animal shelter. I believe he was previously abused because he sometimes flinches when you firmly tell him "No." I can put my hand in his bowl while he's eating and he won't growl. You can touch his paws, tail, ears, or whatever and he doesn't growl. You can take anything away from him (including food) and he won't growl. He also will "Drop it." if you tell him. He's good with visitors. He will bark if he hears knocking, but he lets people in without a problem. He will tell you when he has to go out. He sits, stays, shakes hands, and sort-of heels. I walk him without a leash, but sometimes he runs after squirrels - so watch out for that. He loves to play. He will tug-o-war, fetch, wrestle, and run. He likes to go in the car. He likes to swim. He sleeps on my bed, so you'll have to re-train him if you don't want him on the furniture. He has his own toy, bowls, collar, leash, safety light, and tags. * He is an inside dog. So I won't give him to someone that is going to tie him up outside all day * No cages. * He is NOT good with every other dog. Only some. * He has been around 5 year old children with no problems, but he may knock them over. If anyone is interested let me know and I can give you his contact info. Heres some pics. _________________ | |

| Man, this kind of post just kills me. I wouldn't move anywhere where I couldn't take my pets. Unless you're in the military and being transferred involuntarily, why wouldn't you find a new place where you could take your pet? Especially one that was rescued from a shelter. I will never understand why people treat pets like furniture. Sorry, not trying to start anything but this mindset just totally eludes my comprehension. Maybe there's more to your story that you're not posting but I just see far too many similar posts on my company's e-bulletin board and it breaks my heart so much that I quit reading it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| BTW, you realize that at his age and with his pedigree (looks like some pit bull in there), surrendering him to a shelter is a virtual death sentence, right?
And BTW, I'm not some PETA whacko; I'm just a person who loves animals. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah, now that I've re-read the post, I think you're right. Sorry PRD. I thought it was your dog. Now I'm just irritated at the dog's real owner. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| That dog's name is awesome, by the way!! I love dogs as well, but I'm no PETA nut either. Just think they're tops, as animals. | |

| That just makes it worse.
Advertising a dog on Craigslist? Guess where most labs and veterinary schools get there "subjects" from...the Internet.
I know I'm probably coming across as a PETA nutjob but I'm really not. I thoroughly research the animal organizations I support and I'm proud to say I've never given a dime to PETA, ELF, Greenpeace or any other extremist animal organization.
But doing this research also gives me insight into the reality of animal abuses and it's a fact that most experimental animals come from shelters that have euthanized or will euthanize animals deemed as "unadoptable" because of age, breed or both. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| As part of my pre-med course in college, I had to dissect a cat. That cat came from a "shelter". I changed my major a few weeks later. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| whoa whoa whoa hahaha take it easy. No its not my dog. I dont have any pets anymore I just have a little old beta fish. This is my cousins dog. He loves this dog to death and the last thing he wants to do is get rid of him, but where he has to move to will not be suitable for him to take the dog along. I dont really know his whole situation because we are not very close. He just posted this up on facebook and I felt bad he has no other choice. He wouldnt just give the dog up to just anyone or even bring it to a shelter, he wants to find him a good home. So dont worry Toho theres no wrong doing or anything going on. My cousin must be in some serious financial problems otherwise he wouldnt give the dog up. _________________ | |

Yeah, in this economy there's a lot of that going on. Still, it doesn't change the fact that if that dog enters a general animal shelter, odds are he isn't coming out. Just stating the unfortunate facts. I also work with a guy who's in pit bull and pit bull mix rescue and he's constantly getting calls from humane societies about this great dog and that great dog but his organization only has limited capacity and can only take in so many dogs. The one's his organization rejects are euthanized at about a 90% rate. I'm just trying to let you (and your cousin) know that turning the dog over to a shelter is probably not a good idea. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yea he knows all of that he feels the same way as you do. He rescued the dog from a shelter in the first place so he certainly won't take it back to one. _________________ | |

| WOW wayne, I used to have a similar dog. I had to leave a dog and parrot on my hometown. I didn't want to leave them, but I had to come to the States in order to treat a tumor I have. I would like to have him but where I lived pets are not allowed | |

| I feel for your cousin and for the dog PRD. But I already got 100 pounds of Golden Retriever in my house, adding another dog to the family is outta the question. I hope he finds a good home though. Stories like this make me sad. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Recently, my sister and her family weren't able to keep a nice yellow Lab that they sort of inherited. After my brother-in-law did a bit of online searching it turned out that there was a small organization that did rescue and placement of just Labradors and are 100% legit. (who knew?) Their application and approval process was very thorough and in the end they actually came and picked up the dog and placed her with a good family. | |
