Couple of things.
First, I totally agree about Elton John. Even his older ballads like Tiny Dancer and Levon were great. And when he rocked, he ROCKED!!! I'm convinced the Lion King ruined him.
Second, how is that VoA disc? I heard the lead singer quit after the Trinity disc which is a shame because this band was going to be my replacement for the Tarja-less Nightwish. Have you heard Elton sing with Queen doing The Show Must Go On? He was absolutly kick ass on that. That particular VoA disc was the album before Trinity with their origional vocalist (before the Trinity chick) but she sounds almost exactly the same (however, even though it's not important, while having a nice body was nowhere near as pretty in the face). The music is slightly less bombastic than the last one and the male vocalist is much stronger on Trinity, but the music is symphonic and very melodic. Definatly, a solid album, at least to my ears. Past two days: That Petra album has some pretty good 80s melodic hard rock (but the ballads suck). | |
