you
beat me to it. I was gonna post Ultimatum. They are well known on this
board for obvious reasons, but I don't understand why a band as good as
they are and who have been around for as long as they have aren't
better known. Are people just put off by the Xtian tag? I mean, I'm not
a Xtian and I think they are great. I've seen them live and they are
not preachy. I've even talked with them at shows and they are just nice
guys. I even see them helping other bands setting up and breaking down
equippment.

I don't think I posted this question in the right place so I wil just start a new discussion.

If you like ultimatium or not, What is your opinion? why is it a band like ultimatium are not more well known?

Good question.

Could be any number of things. From reading the reviews on Into the Pit, it is obvious that some people are going to hate us because of our lyrics. You can't please everyone. However, I think much of it is timing. The style Ultimatum plays is not the "in" thing, and hasn't been since we've been together. Also, we've never been on a big enough label that we were in all the stores. With the exception of Puppet of Destruction, we've always been on small labels with limited distribution, and even Puppet, Diamante didn't know how to market us. Our CDs were located in the "Gospel" section of the chain stores with people like The Winans and Amy Grant. What metal fan would even look in that section? We are a heavy metal band. Another reason could be that people just generally don't like out our music. It could also be that we have never been a touring band. We've played shows all over the country, but we've never just taken off and toured to support an album. I'm sure it could be a number of reasons.

We've never really cared all that much. We had labels that have told us how they want us to sound. We've had labels tell us they want us to sound like some other band. We had an engineer that wanted us to go for a STP sound. We've never listened to any of those things and have just continued to do what we do. We are a metal band. If people like us. GREAT! We obviously want people to like our music. If people don't like us, so be it. We are making the music we like.

Easy, they don't have the label back up, and ZERO promotion, outside the internet buzz.

If you had the money and label backing would you do a real tour?

Sure. Why not? We'd love to do it.

I thought maybe you wouldn't because you have families.

If I could make a living from it, then I would do it. I suppose it would also depend on how long we would be on tour for.

I have been a fan of Ultimatum since 2003, and I have tried to get my friends into them, but they generalize music. If a band is named christian they wont listen to it, but if you put them Kreator or something with Evil image they will get more atracted to it. It is stupid but it is how it works with most of the young guys

Now that will do an cover album, it will get plenty of different reactions. This will get interesting, I hope they get more fan base

An opening slot on a nationwide tour (to promote the new album) would probably go a long way towards increasing the exposure of the band.

I know, that's way easier said than done, but it's a thought.

We were offered the opening slot on a couple of Mortification tours. However, the financing just wasn't there.

Not to be an a-hole here, but hasn't ult answered this question a hundred times before? I don't think it's financially feasible for Ultimatum to do any large or moderate scale touring.

Steve emailed me a couple months ago about doing a possible tour this summer. If it was short enough that we could all get vacation time from work, we might consider it. I don't have any details yet.
