St. Anger-I heard Metallica was going back to a more aggressive sound but I thought, "I'll believe it when I hear it". So I sampled the album on the internet and while it was more aggressive it sounded like what it was, an old thrash band trying to go back to their roots but forgetting how and half assing it to boot. Also the production was so horrible with the tin can pounding that I could barely get past it to hear the music. Never got the album and unless I find it dirt cheap, probably never will.
Death Magnetic-If it wasn't for the preview I got in a thread here, I would have not given this one a chance but I was suprised that I liked what I heard. I picked it up at Wal-Mart on chance and ended up loving the entire album (the only song that is lackluster for me is the instrumental). This time they went back to their roots and made a real effort to do so unlike the turd in the punch bowl. Metallica had finally regained me as a fan and I hope that this is a sign of things to come. Favoirte songs are every single song less Suicide & Redemtion (which is not too terrible but when I listen to it I find myself relagating it to background music-it's just too dang long).
