Arch Enemy

I've been getting into this band lately. I'm really amazed at the vocalist.

i love Arch Enemy. especially the Angela material. she's a much better vocalist than they had.

I love Arch Enemy! In my opinion they are excellent mixture between Death Metal with Trash Metal. I like the vocals of Angela Gossow. My favorite albums are Anthems Of Rebellion and Doomsday Machine.

I like the Angela albums better but the early stuff is still good. Wages Of Sin has to be my favorite album.

I never said that that makes em horrible. They're decent, but the barbie, trying to growl sounds rather silly, if you ask me.

Angela is the coolest little metal chick, she sings as well or better than half the bands I get haha. Check out the Arch Enemy/Black Earth re-issue on Regain Records. Arch Enemy 1986-TJ

Why does that sound silly? She sounds better than a lot of death metal vocalists out there and she's hardly a Barbie - I know I wouldn't want to get in a fight with her :P

if you do not like the band, that's cool. but just trying to understand... you call the lead singer a "barbie", so my guess is that you detest the band because of her vox? if that's the case, did you like the band when Johan was singing?

if so, why does the fact that she's a good looking woman give you negative opinions about her? Holy Moses also has a striking lady on the vox. are they "horrible" in your opinion as well?

Well, she has many features. But I meant her voice.

I do not think that there is even 1 of us posting here that would have been able to tell that it was a woman singing on the Angela albums if we didn't already know.

I for one love the albums with here, but I also like the band when Johan was their singer. I also hve the first Hearse album (the band Johan went on to form), and it is rather good also.

Musicwise fantastic band with the most boring and repetitive female growler which sadly ruins it for me... but then I never was big death metal fan so what do I know...

For me, it just ends up sounding like heavy metal pop. I think she is a fine DM vocalist, and I will admit that there are many musical moments throughout the first and second Angela albums that I think are really cool, but overall when I listen from start to finish, I am too often bored and/or annoyed at the boring pop music. I was also not a fan of their older stuff, but I don't remember it being pop, just boring.

the Johan Liiva albums were the best. But they are not thrash!

There's a big difference between her or Dawn Crosby or Sabina Classen. It's like seeing all these 15-year old black metal girls, who look awful when you see them headbang. Or, I don't know, Britney Spears, who cannot decide wheter to be, a little girl or a sex bomb. Or as my ex said (about Angela of course! ) - let the man do the job properly

Arch Enemy sounded decent to me as a studio band, although I never really cared for them. Seeing them live (especially Angela with her makeup) was just like seeing those little black metal girls, trying to headbang. Well, that's my opinion, so like it or not, I probably won't change it
