I'm too old to have watched his show when it aired, but I know the impact it had on the younger generation. I know my nephew watched it every Saturday morning.

Like 007, I was too old to catch the Pee-Wee wave, but I knew him as the "Hamburger Dude" from the Cheech & Chong movies.
I actually found the Pee-Wee character vaguely irritating, but I sat thru Pee-Wee's Big Adventure back in the day anyway, just to see Twisted Sister's cameo. Pee-Wee and Tim Burton were a match made in Heaven. (Tim also put him in a small role as the Penguin's father in the opening scene of Batman Returns.)
I remember when he showed up as a presenter at the MTV Music Video Awards shortly after his arrest for jackin' in a porn theater in Florida, and the first thing he said to the audience was "Heard any good jokes lately?" I had to respect the dude for owning it.

"I'm not sorry, I took the money" is one I say to the ol' lady, from time to time, when she is pissed at me for somethin' or another.
My voice characterisation is not spot-on, but she still busts up afterwards.

The breakfast scene in Pee-wee's Big Adventure is classic.
