Another of my icons has passed. John Madden has died at the age of 85.
I just saw the Fox special about his life on Christmas Day and loved revisiting some of his classic calls and commercials.

Just saw this on the NFL site. The last game he called was one of the best Super Bowls played,XLIII between the Cardinals and the Steelers. RIP to a true football legend. Sad to see that he's gone.

He introduced most of America to terducken. That was in the Fox special BTW. I'd highly recommend watching that.

I didn’t bother to find any of his last photographs. I’ll always remember him as a swashbuckling jolly guy. I still like watching the Raiders. Hoping they might one day regain their once honored name. Madden was definitely color commentary on TV. I’m sure some super stars showed up at his wake. A man’s man.
