I had a band which was basically an Iron Maiden worship, however, they didn't want to be "yet another stereotypical power metal cliche" so we had to do a Cthulhu cover art in a very non-metal way. The end result looked like 1950-s family picnic poster and of course no one knew what it was about and simply laughed at it. Not very helpful to promote a brand new virtually unknown band either.

The final nail in the coffin was when the vinyl label I work with refused to take the album unless we change the cover Smile

. In the end I guess I ended up being blamed for it, and the band opted to move to another label for their 2nd album. Which as you can guess came out with very typical power metal art sporting Vald the Impaler mercilessly slaughtering bunch of Muslims - rather controversial choice given the current situation in Europe, but still miles better metal-wise than what we were forced to work with...

So yeah, that's my contribution to the world of non-metal-looking covers Wink

I never could figure out what it was supposed to be. I mean, I know it's the "Atomic Arena" but it looks more like a futuristic boiler room from a cartoon high school.
