Gawd, I love Doom Metal...

I've been a fan of Doom since around 1988 when I first heard "The Wish" from Trouble on Z-Rock Radio...I was 16. I soon bought all the Trouble I could get my hands on. Then I discovered Candlemass. I discovered Solitude Aeturnus when they released their first album 'Into The Depths Of Sorrow' & have loved them ever since.

Since then, I've latched onto other bands & have expanded my tastes into Funeral Doom, Classic Doom, Gothic Doom & even some Black Doom...I just love that slow, ominous vibe this music gives off. It gets under my skin & excites me. I feel like that, at nearly 37 years old with a normal life & a kid in high school, I should not get as excited as I do about it, but I can't help it. I mean, I'm not miserable and I don't want to die...I'm not evil, either...

I just LOVE this stuff!!!

Some of my favorite bands:

Trouble, Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass, Place Of Skulls, Evoken, St. Vitus, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Revelation & tons of others...newer bands like Evoken, The Foreshadowing, Daylight Dies...I just love it.

Just wanted to vent that...

Depends on the band for me with the synths & ambient passages...I don't get into all of it, but some of it's cool...

Doom slays. I love Veni Domine's mix of power metal with doom and Paramaecium's story telling doom. Trouble, POS and Candlemass are my faves and SA is right up there though they have some weaker stuff I didn't get into. Robert did a great job on the new CM though.
Have you checked out Orange Goblin?

Orange Goblin is cool, for sure...but more Stoner than my usual taste...tons of attitude though!
