Dunno how many of ya happen to watch the FOX series "Bones" (starring former Buffy/Angel guy David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, sister of Zooey, as FBI investigators) but tonight's episode was metal-themed. The pair were investigating the murder of a black metal musician, whose corpse was found after being skeletized, crucified, and used as a stage prop by a rival black metal band. Hilariously cool episode!!

A bit late to the party with that one eh? I think most of that black metal murder stuff went on on the mid '90s in Norway didn't it?

Yea, right now black metallers across the globe are washing off their face paint and going "We've been discovered by Hollywood! It's over!"

Someone on the "Bones" staff must've come across a copy of "Lords of Chaos" recently and thought "Hmm, I could use this! It's so freaky that no one will believe it actually happened!"

Bones is not a serious show, they always try to find something outrageous they can poke fun at. Black Metal is a pretty good target for satire.

Yea, it's pretty funny stuff. The episode was not "C.S.I." or "Law & Order" by any means.

I always thought C.S.I. and Law and order were some of the funniest shows on tv. Wink

Lol. Watching it right now, I wonder if they chose good tunes for the show. Also, I love the name "Spew". Also, man... Sweets knows metal?

Yea, but CSI and L&O like people to think they're realistic. "Bones" has fun with the formula.

Best scene in the whole episode: Dr. Brennan (Emily D.) and Agent Booth (David B.) track down the murder victim's former bandmates, who are rehearsing in a warehouse (in their full makeup and stage gear, mind you). The band completely ignores their request to quit playing so they can ask them some questions, till Booth starts waving his FBI I.D. around. One of the band members leans over and spits on the I.D. card, prompting Booth to go "Ooookay, fine," pull out his gun and empty the clip into one of their Marshall stacks. Laughing very hard

Black metal is not gonna go away anytime soon, if anything it's bigger than ever.
Quite a number of these "bands" are nothing more than a one guy in somebody's basement with a couple of guitars, a computer and a need to scream about the devil.

The "Black Metal" episode of "Bones," titled "Mayhem on a Cross," is available for viewing on Hulu.com ... check it out y'all, it's a hoot and a half.

Didn't see the episode myself but I assume the episode title refers to the band Mayhem. I think if I remember correctly that one of the band's members was involved in much of the mid '90s Norwegian church burnings as well as maybe a murder.

Yeah. Varg Vikernes of Burzum murdered Euronymous of Mayhem (stabbed him 23 times and then claimed it was self-defense) and then admitted playing a part in the church burnings, too. He was just released from prison.

This is my favorite "drama" on TV by far. My wife and I have the first three seasons on DVD and watch it almost religiously! LOVE this show!

I heard Slayer playing a couple of times on a hockey game on TV ("Raining Blood"). I believe it was at the New York Rangers arena, Madison Square Garden.

I watch it from time to time...for the "babe factor". Emily and Michaela are VERY easy on the eyes.

Bones is a great show! I thought it was kind of cool that it was about metal. I really liked all the music that they played in the episode. Razz
