| I just had the pleasure of getting cut by a burnt hard shell taco at dinner tonight which made me think of this thread idea.
Which do you prefer? |

| Hard shells taste good, but always shatter into a million pieces upon first bite. I just pre-emptively smash it into a million pieces before making it and end up with a crunchy taco salad.
Soft tacos are more stable and versatile.

Versatile....thats what I'm talking about! I dont know about the hard shell tasting better though, I dig that doughy texture of the soft shell. I hear you though on the crunching into a million pieces....I hate that. |

| You know what I started doing to soft shells (and had to stop due to abuse)? Wrap fried cabbage in them with egg, ham....whatever, and then fry the whole thing. Sort of a crispy soft taco/egg roll hybrid. Ultra yummy!

What I've found is that you can pretty much re-fry any leftovers, shove them in a soft shell tortilla, fry the whole thing and voila! It's a mouth-orgy!

| Now hard shell tacos that aren't nearly as messy are Taco Bueno's party tacos (because their smaller) and they are very nicely priced. That is when I do the hard shell, soft shell at Taco Bell or when I make them at home.

I think you got that backwards, Taco Bell is notorious for ecoli tainted food (green oinions,tomatos) and the beans are deadly! Del Taco where i live is generally superior in every way plus they use real cheddar cheese, not that wholesale bag cheese. |

Well, the taco bell in my town is gross but not as gross as the Del Taco I ran into while going through California to get to mexico. I have never had bad expirience with my taco bell besides the general crap you get from a fast food joint, but Del Taco on the other hand made me have the worst gut rot of all time. |

The thing about Taco Bell is that each one is different. Some are mediocre, some are pure crap, and others a superior. Where I live there are about 4 or 5 Taco Bells near by (one right by my house but it is a mediocre one) and two of them are superior ones. The one over by my work (Wal-Mart) is the best in the entire DFW area (not just opinion, they're actually one of the highest ranking TB's). All in all it's basically a matter of location.

I got ultra sick from a Taco Bell once but i didn't say all Taco Bells are gross, they're all different in cleanliness and overall quality. |
