| I can't be the only Ramones fan around here can I? Anybody else here dig'em? They've been one of my favorite bands for a looooooong time. I was too young to catch'em in their 70s hey day (though I was aware of their existence due to an older cousin who was a punk rock fan and who used to go to their shows all the time when I was a kid)... I didn't get whole hog into 'em till the mid 80s when I happened to catch the movie "Rock N Roll High School" on TV one afternoon, I was hooked by the Ramones' concert scenes in that film so I started collecting as many of their albums as I could get my hands on. My first show in a small club was a Ramones gig on Staten Island, NY when I was a freshman in college (my first mosh pit too... ouch!). I got to see'em a couple more times in the early 90s (and even met the band at an autograph signing/release party for the MONDO BIZARRO album in '92) before they decided to hang it up. Needless to say, I was very bummed when Joey Ramone passed away in 2001, as well as Dee Dee and Johnny! Fave Ramones discs: Any of the first four are golden of course (RAMONES, LEAVE HOME, ROCKET TO RUSSIA and ROAD TO RUIN) but if I had to choose I'd say ROAD TO RUIN is my #1, followed by 1984's TOO TOUGH TO DIE (one of their angriest, heaviest records) and 1980's END OF THE CENTURY (a lot of the hardcore fans hate that one because of its commercial leanings, but I thought that Phil Spector did a nice job on it)... Ult, I notice you only have ROAD TO RUIN on N.L.T.M., you gotta beef up your Ramones collection some, bro!! |

I love the Plasmatics too... COUP D'ETAT is a fantastic record! I also dig the Anti-Nowhere League, Misfits, and Discharge. I gotta get me some Discharge on CD, I used to have a great cassette compilation of their stuff years back but it's been lost for a long time now... haven't heard them in years... |

Me too, that's what really sparked my interest in them years ago. I've lost count of how many times I've seen that movie. My brother and I could probably quote every line of dialogue verbatim. Riff Randell was a hottie too, wasn't she?? |

| I grew up in New Jersey, USA. Of course I like the Ramones. Use to have a ton of their stuff on vinyl. Saw them in concert several times. They even played at the college I was attending. Met them as well. Wish I still had those old autographed records. They'd be worth something now.

| One of my co-workers just showed me an article from the upstate New York newspaper "Woodstock Times" about the lone surviving original Ramone, drummer Tommy Ramone (aka Tommy Erdelyi)... since he left the Ramones in the late 70s, he worked as a record producer for most of the 80s and he is now semi-retired, living in the Catskill Mountains region of New York State and plays guitar, banjo and mandolin (!) in a bluegrass/folk group called "Uncle Monk!" Interesting... http://www.unclemonk.com/home.html |

| Ramones are one of my favorites. I have the remasters of the 1st 7 albums, along with a lot of the later stuff. I've always enjoyed Adios Amigos. Have some of the books Dee Dee wrote as well, great stuff esp. the one where the Chelsea hotel is haunted by the ghosts of long dead punk rockers. I am from Cleveland so of course the Dead Boys are a favorite for me. Got orginal vinyl presses of their first couple at a yardsale last year, along with some Lords of the New Church and some solo Stiv. |

| As much as I love punk, I've always found the Ramones to be extremely boring. _________________ "Happy people have no stories." —Therapy?
