He may have missed the boat on punk rock, but Jughead is way ahead of the heavy metal curve by being referred to as "Captain Thrash". Smile

True story: I had a high school pal who was a very gifted artist/cartoonist who could do perfect renditions of the Archie characters. (He once did an X-rated "Archie" strip for a goof that has haunted my dreams for 20-something years now.)

As graduation approached, he had an idea of whipping up some sample strips in the hopes of getting a gig drawing Archie and asked me for help scripting them. I gave him a story about Reggie being unable to play a gig with "The Archies" so he got them a last minute replacement, who was a heavy metal guitarist. Needless to say, Heavy Metal Dude's shreddin' guitar riffs during the Archies performance caused ruptured eardrums, chaos and general mayhem (Jughead, behind the drums, fingers in his ears: "Leave it to Reggie to stick us with a tone-deaf heavy metallist!") to the point where the angry audience was chasing the Archies down the street in the last panel.

Sadly, once I handed the story over to my pal, he never got farther than drawing the first few panels because he had the attention span of a flea and he got distracted by other projects before it was finished. Oh well.

The early 90s were loaded with "crossovers" between characters from different publishers (Spiderman/Batman, Batman/Spawn, etc.)... this may have been the weirdest one of 'em all though...I owned this book and y'know what? Oddly enough it actually kinda worked, believe it or not.

Where does one go to study "the Great Boners Of All Time?" Why, the Wayne Manor Library of course. At this point, I think if Bruce Wayne were a real person, he'd have to register in his community as a sex offender.

Ya know, I think I own/owned that one as well. I was a big Punisher fan back then, so I probably picked that up just because it was so damn funny.

I have been meaning to look thru my 2 boxes of "keepers" to see if I still have this one but haven't had time yet. I may have hung onto it simply because it was so ridiculous.

"Rolling" the "Magic Grass?" I thought these kinds of comics were in black & white and sold behind the counter.

That fat kid in the last two panels looks like he's jonesin' pretty bad for that Magic Grass.
